Lance Williams » my sites http://lancewilliams.us my blog Fri, 17 Jul 2009 21:21:44 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.9.2 en hourly 1 Gina’s Site http://lancewilliams.us/general/ginas-site/ http://lancewilliams.us/general/ginas-site/#comments Thu, 23 Oct 2008 21:38:33 +0000 imaginos http://i.maginos.com/?p=10 So, I’ve set up a website for Gina so she can get some more clients through online advertising and SEO.  It’s at www.hairdesignbygina.com.  It’s pretty cool because it gives me a chance to play with a lot of the stuff I’ve learned programmatically over the years.  I’ve built the site on a php template that I’ve designed (there’s not much to it, but I’m still pretty happy with myself).  I also get to put to use what I’ve learned about CSS and do some really cool design stuff with it.  It’s still in it’s infancy, but I’m pretty happy with what I’ve done so far.

I’m also getting to play around with Flash and JavaScript a bit too.  I’ve put up a Flash gallery page that converts all the pictures so they look like polaroids thrown onto a table.  It’s pretty cool.  I’ve just got some dummy pictures in there now, but once we get some pics of her clients, we’ll put them in.  It’s got a bug in IE though where it only works the first time you visit.  If you refresh the page, or go to another page and come back, it doesn’t work.  Kinda pissing me off on that one.  I’d like to be able to make some changes to it though and I’m working on some ways to do that (of course I need to learn a bit more about Flash first).  I’ve also got a pretty cool flash gallery where I can show before and afters in a book-like format where you can actually flip pages.  It’s really cool, but that’s not live yet.

I also just today found a pretty cool mootools FAQ script, so I got to play with that a bit too.

I really like having this site to learn and play with, which will also (hopefully) be something we can turn profitable by driving business to Gina.

]]> http://lancewilliams.us/general/ginas-site/feed/ 0 Idea site up and running http://lancewilliams.us/general/idea-site-up-and-running/ http://lancewilliams.us/general/idea-site-up-and-running/#comments Tue, 21 Oct 2008 01:37:21 +0000 imaginos http://i.maginos.com/?p=7 So, my great idea to have a site where people can post their ideas is now live.  I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, I’ve had a lot of (I feel) good ideas over the years and never did anything with them.  I know other people who have the same, and I figured it’d be really cool to just throw them out there and share them and see what happens.  Ideally, I’d like it to be a place where new inventions and improvements for current things where it can be a great collaborative effort to make things better.  I hope to get my friends started using the site and over time have it pick up steam and get some really cool things invented or fixed.  So, if you’ve got an idea you’d like to share, head on over to www.maginos.com and put it out there for the world to see.  I’ve still got some work to do to make it a bit more user friendly, but I’ll keep working on it.
